About This Place

Nestled in the vibrant Fulton Market district of Chicago, The Aviary redefines the cocktail bar and dining experience with an artful fusion of innovative mixology and carefully crafted cuisine. This iconic spot is not just about savoring drinks; it’s a multisensory journey where every sip and bite plays in perfect harmony to create unforgettable moments.

The Aviary’s menu is a showcase of bold flavors and exquisite ingredients. Cocktail aficionados will delight in signature creations like the Jungle Bird and the intriguingly named It Was a Rum by Fruiting, each cocktail a masterpiece of balance and audacity. For those who prefer a non-alcoholic adventure, refreshing options such as the 310 to Yuzu—with its crisp melon, cucumber, and lively yuzu foam—or the floral and subtly sweet Fill Collins offer an equally compelling experience.

Pairing perfectly with the drinks is a tantalizing food menu that showcases a luxurious appreciation of truffles and inventive textures. The standout Black Truffle Explosion, a decadent combination of Périgord black truffle, parmesan, and romaine, is exactly as its name promises—an eruption of earthy richness that captivates the palate. Complementing this is the mesmerizing Truffled Popcorn, where the aroma and umami of truffle permeate every bite, and the intriguing Giant Onion Ring—crispy, golden, and balanced with a herbed ranch dip—provides a playful, hearty bite. For something more indulgent, the Black Truffle Grilled Cheese, with gruyère, cheddar, and truffle dijonnaise, is a savory comfort elevated to luxurious heights.

The atmosphere at The Aviary is an enticing blend of sophistication and warmth, inspired by art deco elements infused with a modern edge that welcomes both cocktail enthusiasts and curious first-timers alike. Guests have often remarked on the attentive, knowledgeable service that perfectly matches the pace of a relaxed night out, where no one feels rushed but every detail feels cared for. The vibe is alive yet unpretentious, with a subtle hip hop soundtrack setting the rhythm for a memorable evening.

What truly sets The Aviary apart is the immersive, curated Aviary Experience—a multi-course pairing of inventive cocktails and avant-garde dishes designed to elevate your expectations of what a night out can be. Food lovers and cocktail connoisseurs have praised this experience as transformative; one guest described it as humbling for a chef, a compliment that underscores the precision and passion poured into each pairing. From foie gras presented as a whimsical popsicle with white chocolate and bacon to truffle-laden bites that literally explode with flavor, each plate and glass feels like a piece of edible art meant to surprise and delight.

Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, seeking a unique date night, or simply looking to indulge your senses, The Aviary at 955 W Fulton Market delivers an extraordinary fusion of taste, creativity, and ambiance. Artfully crafted to play with your taste buds from dish to dish. A popsicle looking dish that was actually foie gras with white chocolate and bacon. A savory to sweet to smokey transition of plates leading to a memorable evening. Highly recommend, an experience I will not forget

We went to The Aviary..it was my first time at the most iconic cocktail spot in Chicago..and let me tell you, I was so excited, and it did not disappoint! Every drink was delicious, rich in flavor, and beautifully crafted. They were paired with tiny bites that matched each one perfectly. We ended the night with an ice cream dessert and a coffee liqueur drink… pure perfection! The service was amazing! The staff were so attentive, knowledgeable, professional and friendly. Highly recommend!!

Went for our 10 year anniversary- Such a unique experience for those who appreciate cocktail culture and bartenders alike. Nothing about this place radiated pretentious or stuck up. The vibes were amazing, art deco inspired decor with some low key hip hop playing on the speakers. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable, and didn’t mind my slow pace or try to rush us! The cocktails were boozy and portioned well along with the small bites. We expressed to our server we based our trip to Chicago around our love for the books and coming to The Aviary, so she offered to have someone give us a tour of the establishment. It was pretty dope, got to see behind the bar and kitchen counter, the basement/prep areas, a few other spots, and ended in the speakeasy. Honorable mention to the wonderful Host who gave us a list of food and cocktail recommendations in the city. Thank you for the awesome hospitality! We will be back :)

We the did the 7 course chef plate. Well worth the price for the one of kind experience. The food paired with the drinks, has humbled me as a chef and foody. It's a very private and intimate dinner, the staff were very kind of knowledgeable about all courses.

Pre booked a cocktail experience. Definitely recommend this if you plan to have couple of drinks, saves you some extra $$. Ordered the Papaya smoke, Hermosa and Tres Amigos which is a must. The food is pretty good as well. Definitely try the truffle explosion as the name suggests it is infact an explosion in your mouth. The chips are dip are pretty good too. Nice touch to the beet dip. All the servers were great and pretty informed on the notes of the drinks/cocktails served. All in all must visit place atleast once!

What a tremendous and unique experience! The staff was incredibly accommodating in celebrating our anniversary dinner with us. We chose The Kitchen Table experience with 7 drinks and tastings. It was a journey of the senses through a culinary wonderland! The pairings and presentations were unlike anything I’ve had before and we’re already thinking of when to return!

I have been to a lot of restaurants with the chef's tasting menu and paired drinks, but this place is above and beyond any tasting experience I've ever been to. The drinks are part delicious and part entertainment. They are masterfully crafted and truly enjoyable to watch being made tableside. The food is amazing and just as unique from sweet, salty, sour and savory. From the lined coconut shell, the mini Japanese grill at tableside to opening the popcorn bag with the cracker jacks and drink inside - each dish is a surprise. I don't know that I can recommend this restaurant enough and I'm sure I will be talking about it to my friends for a long time coming.
